The attacks in the Gaza Strip have included ground raids and airstrikes, in addition to the bombing of civilian areas. It has resulted in around 20,000 deaths and injured more than 45,000. Over 1.8 million residents of Gaza have been forced to flee their homes. This is a worrying escalation in violence, which will only result in greater loss of lives and destruction of livelihood.
The World’s Largest Open-Air Prison
Many Palestinians and humanitarian organisations continue to describe Gaza as the world’s largest open-air prison, a rigidly controlled strip of land with little opportunity for movement, escape or growth.
One-third of Palestinians live below the poverty line, and after 16 years of blockades and violence, the two million residents of Gaza have been plunged into abject poverty. 80% of the population relies on aid for their survival, with food, medication, water, and electricity supplies at an all-time low. In these desperate circumstances, donate generously to help the distressed people of Gaza.
